• Brick Masonry is a construction technique using individual bricks bonded together with mortar. This type of masonry is known for its durability, color variety, and classic aesthetic. It’s commonly used for building walls, chimneys, and other elements in both residential and commercial construction.
• Stone Masonry involves the use of natural stones cut and dressed to fit together tightly without the use of mortar (dry stone masonry) or with mortar as a binder (mortared stone masonry). It is prized for its strength, weather resistance, and the distinct, rustic appeal it brings to structures.
• Concrete Block Masonry, also known as concrete masonry units (CMUs), concrete block masonry is widely used for its structural integrity and fire resistance. These blocks are larger than bricks, leading to faster installation, and are often used in the construction of load-bearing and non-load-bearing walls.
• Veneer Masonry involves the application of a single layer of bricks or stones against a structural wall for aesthetic purposes. While it doesn’t support the building structurally, it offers the appearance of full brick or stone masonry at a reduced cost.
• Reinforced Masonry. In reinforced masonry, steel reinforcement bars (rebar) or mesh are embedded within the masonry to enhance its structural integrity and resistance to seismic forces. This method is often used in areas that require additional support due to environmental or load-bearing considerations.
• Composite Masonry combines two or more different types of building materials, such as bricks and stones or bricks and concrete blocks. This method is used to leverage the advantages of each material type and can result in unique aesthetic designs and improved structural performance.
• Hollow Masonry uses blocks with hollow centers. Hollow masonry reduces the weight and materials needed for the structure while still maintaining strength. It also provides better insulation properties compared to solid masonry and is often used in partition walls.
• Dry Set Masonry technique involves laying stones without any mortar to bind them together, relying instead on precise stone cutting and fitting. Dry set masonry is commonly used for walls, fences, and outdoor hardscaping, offering a natural look and excellent drainage.
